43 Years Ago She Amazed The World. When I See This I Understand Why. Unbelievable!

Let’s take a walk down memory lane to the Olympic Summer Games in Munich 1972 and 17-year-old Olga Korbut, known as the “Sparrow from Minsk”. Before Münich, the Belarusian gymnast no one knew about her. But after the competitions everybody knew about the smiling sensation who at the time competed for Soviet Union. At the beginning of the Olympic Summer Games Korbut made one fatal mistake and failed to win the gold medal in the all-around. The cameras caught the “Sparrow from Minsk” while she ran to the dressing room with tears in her eyes. Heartbreaking. And everyone who watched it felt with the 17-year-old. But only 20 hours later she got her revenge. Turning the tears into a sparkling smile with the gold medal around her neck. With an outrageous performance she spellbounded the crowd. In this clip, you’ll see something no one has seen before – a back flip from a stand on the high bar. The move was groundbreaking and was named the Korbut Flip. A couple of years later it even got banned because of the danger performing it. We’ll never forget you, Olga Korbut!
