Creative Dad Melts Down Used Crayons And Gives Them Away To Children’s Hospital.

When father Bryan Ware saw a restaurant throw away crayons after kids eating at the restaurant were done using them, he got an idea. It was a bit crazy, but sometimes it’s those ideas that are a bit outside of the box that lead to something big. Bryan collected crayons, melted them down, and then did something that deserves a big round of applause. “They said they had to throw them away after it’s been on the table,” Bryan told NBC. “So that to me was just kind of a spark; there’s got to be something we could do with them.”

Bryan calls his project The Crayon Initiative. Hundreds of volunteers help Bryan collect old crayons and sort them out. Bryan then melts the crayons, color by color, to make new ones. And he does all of this in his own kitchen, which now resembles a crayon factory.

Other dads might have been content with melting down the crayons so they could be used again. But Bryan goes one step further. He takes the new crayons and distributes them to local children’s hospitals for free. Amazing!
