Deaf 3-year-old had only one wish for her class photo – and now she’s the school hero

Dressing for the class photo is the most important day of the year for many children and teens. So when 3-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach’s parents put out some clothes that she didn’t like, the preschooler decided to take matters into her own hands.

Now Kaylieann’s outfit choice is winning praise across the internet, and she’s also being hailed as a preschool hero.

Three-year-old Kaylieann Steinbach has always been fond of superheroes like Superman and Supergirl. But she can’t hear the letter “S” because of her nearly complete hearing loss—so she calls the characters “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl.”

So when her preschool’s annual class photo day was approaching, Kaylieann had no doubt about what she wanted to wear.

“She walked up, looked over each of her choices, turned and said ‘Pootergirl!’ And well, I couldn’t argue with that answer,” her dad, Austin Steinbach, told the Huffington Post.

And that was that. Kaylieann chose her own outfit, and she posed for her class photo wearing her favorite Supergirl costume while holding Superman in her arms.

Kaylieann’s photo quickly won over her classmates, and now she delights them by dressing up as Spiderman, Batman, or Anna from the movie “Frozen.”

“Her school is amazing. They always love and look forward to ‘the superhero of the day’ or what she’s picked out to wear,” Austin Steinbach told the Huffington Post.

However, Kaylieann’s classmates aren’t the only ones who are impressed by the 3-year-old. Since the preschooler’s dad posted her class photo on Reddit, it has received a steady stream of positive comments.

“The reaction and turnout from the deaf community is amazing. I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me. I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many,” Austin Steinbach told the Huffington Post.

Please share Kaylieann’s picture if you’re also happy that this wonderful 3-year-old was able to see her wish come true!
