Guys keep an eye on 93-year-old – when she leaves home, they get to work

Being in good enough health to live alone at 93 years is a rare feat. But it doesn’t mean that completing everyday tasks is easy. A 93-year-old lady in Huntsville, Alabama had long struggled to maintain her yard, but her age and frailty eventually made it impossible.

But what she didn’t know was that two young men had been watching her and had a surprise for her.

Rodney Smith Jr. and his friend Terrence Troy had heard the 93-year-old woman valiantly attempted to mow her lawn. And they knew that hiring a landscaping company would be expensive. So they decided to take care of the woman’s lawn themselves. But they wouldn’t take any money for their services, and decided to act while the woman was out.

When she returned home to a beautifully manicured lawn, the elderly woman was incredibly grateful to the two college students. Their gesture wasn’t a one-time act of kindness, though.

Rodney wrote about the event on Facebook. “We did this sweet lady’s lawn today. She is 93, the neighbors told us that she been out their trying to cut her own lawn . Have no fear, raising men lawn care is going to make sure her lawn is done every two weeks! Making a difference in our community!”

The 93-year-old lady isn’t the only person these guys helped. Rodney started a non-profit organization called Raising Men Lawn Care Service, which teaches boys and young men how to contribute to society by helping those in need. He challenged himself to mow the lawns of 100 elderly people and single mothers who have difficulty making ends meet, and now he’s inspiring others to offer their services for free, as well.

Listen to Rodney tell his story here:

It’s wonderful to see how these young guys are helping the elderly and encouraging other young people to join them. Please share this story to celebrate their generous project.
