Research: People Who Swear Are Better-Looking, Sexier And More Relaxed.

It happens to the best of us. You bump your elbow, knee or another sensitive part of your body against something painfully hard. The first and most intense swear words you know suddenly come pouring out. It just seems like there’s just no better way to convey that feeling of “ouch”. Well. it turns out there’s a scientific reason even for that.

According to a new study, it may actually be good to swear in certain situations. That it could be good for us to go off on foul rants may sound odd (and rather unpleasant) for some of us, however it appears that swearing under particular circumstances may do more good than harm.

Science has long sought a connection between cursing and human behavior. Researchers at Keele University in Staffordshire, UK, presented their research on this matter at the British Psychological Society conference. According to Dr. Richard Stephens, one of the scientists who was involved in the study, cursing can be very useful when we need to vent.

The study concludes that if used in moderation, swearing is a harmless emotional release which could make you feel stronger.

‘We want to use more taboo words when we are emotional. We grow up learning what these words are and using these words while we are emotional can help us to feel stronger,” Stephens told Daily Mail.

In addition to these findings, a separate study found that using profane language can render people more attractive to others, particularly during sex. Before trying to conjure up the foulest words you can think of, remember that this applies only in certain contexts and selected words must be chosen carefully.

This survey looked at how men viewed women who swore after being aroused.
“Every guy likes to think he’s so damn good in bed that a woman just can’t contain herself,” one of the participants said. Another however doesn’t completely agree.

“Not all people can curse equally. Some people are just better equipped for it —kind of like guys wearing muscle shirts or girls bearing midriffs.”
