Fire surrounds family house and forces them to flee – 24 hrs later, everything changes

Recently, a deadly forest fire raged in the area of Tennessee where Rob Holmes and his family live.

The family were trapped in their home as the fire came closer and closer.

Then suddenly, the fire reached their doorstep, and they knew they had to flee the home that they had lived in for many years.

“All hell broke loose. The trees snapped and the power lines dangled over our driveway,” Rob Holmes, the father of the family wrote on Facebook.

Luckily, the family and their four dogs and one cat managed to escape. They settled into the safety of an area hotel.

But Rob’s daughter was inconsolable and cried all night long. She couldn’t stop thinking about the one pet that she and her family were forced to leave behind: their beloved pig, Charles.

Then 24 hours later, the Holmes’ world turned upside down.

Rob got a phone call that no one wants to get: the family house had completely burned down.

But the neighbor who delivered the news also had something incredible to tell him: their family pig, Charles, was alive!

The Holmes family hurried to their burned-down house and saw Charles lying in the ashes.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes. Charles had burrowed in the mud to survive,” Rob Holmes wrote.

Charles had been burnt, and at first, Charles was too dehydrated to eat. The Holmes family gathered around him to make him feel safe and gave him water to help him regain his strength.

Then, they took Charles to a veterinarian so that he could get the care he needed. Rob Holmes doesn’t know how long Charles will stay at the animal hospital, but he’s getting better every day.

“We lost everything materialistic, but we had what was most important, our lives,” Rob Holmes wrote about the incident.
