Meet Emerson Aparecido de Albuquerque. He’s lived on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil for many years, but he’s never been alone.
That’s because Emerson has always had his dog Julie by his side.
The love between the two is mutual. Emerson may not have much in the world, but what he does have, he is prepared to sacrifice for Julie’s well-being.
So one day when Julie gave birth to seven puppies, Emerson knew what he had to do.
Without hesitation, Emerson decided to sell his shopping cart and other belongings. That way he was able to scrape enough money together to take Julie and her puppies to the vet.
And when a reporter from Buzzfeed asked Emerson why he didn’t sell his puppies and buy a new shopping cart, Emerson responded, “You don’t sell your friends.”
Only when Emerson needed to pay for Julie to be spayed did he agree to give up four of the puppies for adoption into loving homes.
But even though it would have been easier for Emerson to sell all seven puppies and take the money himself, he refused to separate Julie from her puppies. He felt that she’s entitled to be with them, so he kept three of the puppies!
It brings tears to my eyes to see Emerson’s big heart and the sacrifice he’s endured for his dogs!
