It was an ordinary day at a Walmart in Eagle Point, Oregon.

But then right there in broad daylight, a masked man tried to pull off a heist, albeit a minor one.

A woman saw the thief trying to steal her bicycle. But as the guy got on her bike, something unexpected happened.

Robert Borba, a local cowboy, galloped up on his horse.

Robert describes the woman’s call for help and his response.

“‘Stop him! Stop him! He stole my bike! He stole my bike!’ And I kind of look around and all of a sudden this guy goes whizzing by me on a bicycle,” Robert explained.

Borba realized it was his only chance to catch the thief, so he acted immediately, writes CBS.

Robert chased after the thief. Then he pulled out his lasso and threw it.

The rope landed perfectly and wrapped around the perpetrator’s ankle.

“A couple swings and then I threw it at him, just like I would a steer,” Robert Borba said.

Robert then held the thief until the police arrived.

When local police officer Chris Adams arrived on the scene, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I looked up and from the horse there was a rope connected to the ankle of a gentleman on the ground holding onto a tree,” officer Adams said.

So did Robert want anything in exchange for his heroic effort? No, nothing at all. He was just trying to do the right thing, he says.

“If it was my wife or my little girl, I would hope somebody would help her if I wasn’t around,” Robert told CBS.
