Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife Morgan opened up about experiencing the unimaginable in their lives.
The couple lost their second child and only daughter Emeline in 2018 when she was just 19 months old. The toddler drowned in the swimming pool of a neighbor’s house in Orange County, California.
Speaking to Inside Edition, the professional volleyball player and model shared her pain saying “A child under 30lbs can drown in 30 seconds and I just keep counting the 30 in my head.”
The couple, who married in 2012, were expecting their third child together when they suffered the heart-breaking loss of their daughter.
While playing at their neighbor’s home their daughter Emeline Grier, or Emmy, fell into the pool and lost her life.
The tragedy happened in June 2018, after a fun-filled day involving a birthday party.
To lose a child is every parent’s worse nightmare and nobody really recovers from such devastation but Morgan revealed the comfort she found from her third pregnancy.
Morgan was pregnant with a boy but found it hard to look forward to his arrival after losing her child.
But just five days after their daughter’s passing, Morgan was scheduled for a prenatal checkup.
Her son’s growth was recorded and the technician was able to offer a 3D image of her unborn child.
Later, when she looked at the image of her son she couldn’t believe what she saw.
Her eyes were drawn to the side of her son’s face where she saw the image of a little baby angel who looked just like their daughter Emmy.
She had her arms tenderly wrapped around him in an embrace.
Their son Easton Vaughn Rek Miller, was born on October 5, just months after Emmy’s death.
One month after his birth and on what would have been Emmy’s second birthday on November 5, the couple shared an image of their newborn son.
“I hold onto this picture as a clear sign that my son knows his sister,” Morgan Miller wrote of the ultrasound photo taken five days after her daughter died.
I’m glad they were able to have some comfort in knowing their baby girl was still with them. Such a beautiful ultrasound they can hold onto and share with their children.
