100-year-old man asks for 101,000 likes after 101st birthday party was cancelled because of coronavirus

A 100-year-old man has been forced to cancel his 101st birthday party because of the outbreak of coronavirus.

Owen, said to be from the U.S., still wants to toast the special occasion and is hoping to get 101,000 likes and comments on his photo instead.

UN worker Mohamad Safa shared Owen’s plea on Twitter, asking folk from all around the world to let Owen know his birthday is being celebrated despite all that’s going on.

Owen can be seen in a photo holding a whiteboard that reads: “Hello, I am Owen. I am turning 101 on March 31st.

“My party was canceled because of social distancing. Help me celebrate by getting 101k likes/comments.”

Needless to say, comments and likes rolled in – at the time of writing almost 12,000 people have commented to wish Owen a happy birthday and over 135,000 people have liked the post!

Given his advanced age, Owen sits in a risk category with regards coronavirus. Even so, this man deserves to be able to celebrate his birthday and it warms the heart to see people sending messages!
