A 103-year-old woman from Massachusetts not only beat coronavirus but celebrated doing so with a bottle of beer.
As per reports, Jennie Stejna was the first person in her nursing home to test positive for the virus three weeks ago. At that time, she had a low-grade fever and was moved to a separate ward to be isolated.
Her granddaughter, Shelly Gunn, told The Enterprise that her grandmother didn’t fully understand the seriousness of COVID-19, but knew she was very sick.
The 103-year-old’s condition soon began to deteriorate, with her family calling to say what they expected would be their final goodbyes.
Shelley’s husband, Adam, asked if Jennie was ready to go to heaven, to which she replied: “Hell, yes.”
And yet there was another twist in the story. On May 13, Shelley said she got good news: her grandmother had recovered against the odds.
“She always had that feisty fighting spirit,” Shelley said. “She didn’t give up.”
“This feisty old Polish grandmother of ours officially beat the coronavirus,” Adam added.
What’s more, Jennie was permitted to celebrate her unlikely victory with something she hasn’t been able to have in a long while: an ice-cold bottle of Bud Light.
As per reports, Jennie has lived her entire life in western Massachusetts. She has two children, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
