Mom leaves baby locked in hot car while she goes to breakfast – when she returns she’s shocked

As reported by Telivisan.NEWS, on March 22 of this year in San Andres de Cholula, Mexico, a woman left her baby in the car while she went to have breakfast with her friends in a shopping center.

Apparently, passersby saw the little girl and noticed that she was distressed in the heat. The windows of the car were all shut and so one stranger used a public sign to block out the sun so that the baby wouldn’t get sunstroke.

Fortunately – again, as per Telivisan.NEWS – concerned strangers managed to locate the baby’s mother in a nearby cafe.

When she returned to the scene, one witness began hurling insults at her as she nervously took her child from the car.

Embarrassed by what had happened, the mother asked for forgiveness and made it clear that she didn’t want her face to be shown on camera.

“Poor baby, she’s so red,” one of the witnesses can be heard saying in the video.

“Stupid mother, take your baby with you,” another one challenges.

With the mom rocking her baby in an attempt to comfort her, someone else tells her she’s the “mother of the year”. That phrase has since been coined in a hashtag (#MadreDelAño) and, accompanied by images, is doing the rounds on the internet.

There are those that have argued that the footage should not have been shared online; that the mother has the right to anonymity.

However, others believe that it should be shared far and wide as a warning. Make no mistake, this mother’s carelessness could easily have resulted in the death of her baby. It wouldn’t be the first – and, sadly, probably not the last – case of a baby dying from the heat when trapped inside a car. It goes without saying that this should not happen!
