Teen with Down syndrome holds niece for first time – now look at the baby’s reaction

Even though babies are too small to understand what’s happening around them, they can quickly figure out if a person is safe or not. That’s why infants can sometimes only be comforted by their mom or dad.

The pictures below show a teen with Down syndrome holding his niece for the first time. After his sibling posted them on Reddit, they’ve been shared by people around the world, and it’s not hard to understand why. I almost teared up myself.

Down syndrome is often misunderstood by those who don’t know anyone with it. These images shared by a Reddit user show that the bond between family members are strong regardless of how many chromosomes each family member has. The Reddit user recently shared these emotional images on the forum and the post instantly went viral:

“My brother is a low functioning downsie. He used to love to hold babies but it’s rare someone let’s him now. My wife and I let him hold our baby today and here is his look when we gave her to him and then the way he held her without movement for 5 minutes. I almost cried. :)”

The picture on the left shows how happy the boy was when he got a chance to hold his niece. The picture on the right was take a few seconds later. The teen held his niece for five minutes without moving to make her feel calm and safe.

The love between these two definitely comes through in these pictures. Family is the most important thing we have, regardless of the number of chromosomes our family members have. Please share and help spread this message.
