30-minute-old baby dumped in park in freezing temperatures: Left “Crying for her life”

It’s said that Rima Zvaliauskiene and her 27-year-old son Ovidijus came upon the struggling infant after hearing her cries from inside the plastic bag.

Rima and her son found the baby beside a bench in Newham, England a little after 10pm. The temperature was below freezing and the child, named Roman, had only a towel and a shopping bag in terms of clothing.

“There was a crying noise from the bag. She was crying for her life. The baby saved herself,” Rima said, as per the Daily Mail.

Lucky escape

Roman is now being cared for by nurses, while police have launched an investigate to find out who the mother with.

Rima’s son, Ovidijus, said: “She looked a bit purple. She was very cold to the touch. Her forehead and ears looked like they were a bit frosty, she was cold. We feel great that we helped save the baby’s life. I’m glad we were there or the baby might not have survived too much longer.”

It’s said that police had sniffer dogs trying to find a blood trail that might lead them to the mother, but they found no one.

Inspector Shane Clarke of North East Command Unit appealed to the infant’s mother, pleading: “We are growing increasingly concerned for your welfare and I urge you to make contact either with police, your local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know that you are safe. I would also urge anyone who has information that could help us to reunite this baby with her mother to come forward.”

While we have no idea how a mother could abandon her baby in freezing cold temperatures, we’re happy little Roman was saved.

Thankfully Rima and her son were in the area, as the story could have had a far more morbid ending had they not been.
