The series creator Shonda Rhimes have suffered from enormous amounts of criticism after McDreamys farewell. In USA, fans have started to sign a petition to stop the popular doctor from leaving the series. In just a couple days over 60 000 destroyed fans have signed the petition.

The fan who started the petition is Courtney Williams and she writes this:
“It’s like you’ve killed the President of Grey’s Anatomy! The Fans are ready to serve you papers and charge you with the Patriot Act! You HAVE TO BRING DEREK BACK! NOW! IMMEDIATELY! Sjukhuset som dödade Derek måste STÄNGAS NER! Seriously? SERIOUSLY SHONDA?! SERIOUSLY MS. RHIMES!?!?!?!?! You’ve destroyed us. COMPLETELY!”
