It wasn’t all that long ago that there were widespread fears for the safety and well being of Bam Margera.
Earlier this year, the Jackass star and former professional skateboarder was arrested and placed on psychiatric hold after concerns for his mental health were raised. According to reports, members of Margera’s family had sought the public’s help in locating Bam after he threatened to take his own life and subsequently disappeared.
Add in Bam’s widely publicized feud with his estranged wife over custody of their child, and you have quite the mixing pot for disaster.
Yet the latest news is thankfully positive where Margera is concerned. According to TMZ, the 44-year-old celebrated one month of sobriety this week, and is even said to have started skateboarding again.
Sources told TMZ that Bam has been living on a farm owned by another skateboarder outside of Philadelphia, and has been spending time with his girlfriend, Danni, who gave him an ultimatum regarding his alcohol and substance abuse.
As per TMZ, Bam and Danni have been going to the gym every day. That, coupled with walking their dogs, has seen Bam lose enough weight to return to the skating scene.
Not only that, but the Jackass alum is said to feel that this is the first time he has gotten sober of his own accord, not after an intervention made by friends or loved ones.
That may be the key moving forward, though hitting the one-month milestone is certainly a fantastic achievement given how things were earlier this year.

Reports state that Bam has been in a legal battle with his wife, Nikki, over custody of 5-year-old son Phoenix. Nikki was granted temporary sole custody of the child last month following Bam’s arrest and citation for public intoxication.
