Mark Cuban believes it’s time to make his final investment on Shark Tank.
The billionaire businessman, 65, revealed on the podcast “All the Smoke” that season 16 of the ABC series would be his last.
“This is our 15th year, and next year, our 16th year, is gonna be my last year,” Cuban told hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.
“So I got one more year to go.”
The 65-year-old businessman and Dallas Mavericks owner began his stint on the show during the second season as a guest investor. He became one of the main sharks during the third season.
“I love it because it sends the message the American dream is alive and well.”
“I feel like in doing Shark Tank all these years, we’ve trained multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody can come from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever, and show up on the carpet of Shark Tank and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids,” he continued.
“That’s what happens, right? Now we’ve got people coming on saying I watched you when I was 10 years old. I’m like, f—. But we’re helping them right? I’ve invested in, I don’t know how many hundreds of companies.”
When it comes to investing, Cuban said he looks “for ideas [where I’m] like, ‘Damn, why didn’t I think of that?'”
Over the years he has invested in Cup Board Pro, Pick-up Pools, Nuts ‘N More, and many others.
ABC has yet to confirm Cuban’s departure.
We will miss Mark Cuban on Shark Tank. He’s always been one of our favorites.
