Jennifer Lopez found herself in the spotlight again after stepping out in an all-black outfit in Los Angeles this week.
The whole look seemed to spark considerable social media debate among both her fans and critics.
Featuring a high-neck blouse with a small bow-tie detail, the 55-year-old’s look was completed with rings, a black handbag, and her trademark oversized sunglasses.
The most polarizing part of the look, however, was her high-waisted, cropped pants paired with black ballet flats, which many commenters found unappealing.
Lopez’s choice of pants became a hot topic, with social media users expressing strong opinions.
One Instagram user criticized: “Under no sun or moon those pants have anything to do with the word chic, come on!”
Another wrote: “Definitely NOT fabulous; her pants are horrendous!”
Although some focused on the pants, others found fault with the entire outfit. Comments ranged from “Just because the style is trendy doesn’t mean it looks good” to the biting remark: “Whoever dressed her secretly hates her.”
Some even turned their attention to Lopez’s height, noting that she seemed shorter without her usual high heels.

This public reaction follows close on the heels of another fashion controversy Lopez faced weeks earlier.
During a photoshoot for Interview magazine, she wore a bold leopard-print outfit that included a revealing bikini bottom and a cropped jacket, paired with oversized gold accessories.
Although some fans celebrated the daring look, critics were quick to voice their disapproval.
One commented: “Sorry she has kids, put some clothes on,” while another asked: “Can she disappear for a long time?”
Many questioned why Lopez remains so prominent in the spotlight, suggesting she focus more on her personal life…
Despite the negativity, Lopez’s supporters came to her defense, admiring her bold fashion sense.
“The styling is sooo good,” one fan praised, while another exclaimed: “Geez, this woman is amazing.”
Lopez’s latest style critiques came just after she opened up about the personal challenges she’s faced, including her recent divorce from Ben Affleck.
In her Interview piece with comedian Niki Glaser, Lopez reflected on the lessons learned from her past, admitting: “I did all the work and look at where I am, and then it was like my whole […] world exploded.”
She continued by acknowledging that she had been searching for happiness in relationships for so long that she had forgotten to look inward and find joy within herself.
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can’t be looking for happiness in other people,” the mother-of-two said. “I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say I’m a happy person, but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, ‘No, I’m actually good.'”
