Wendy Williams has been left “permanently incapacitated” by her gruelling fight with dementia, according to her legal guardian.
The popular ex-host and TV star was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023 (as revealed by her representatives), and would it appear that the disease has exacted a heavy toll on her health.
A new report in USA Today claims that Williams has been left incapacitated and cognitively impaired, as per a memo filed in court by attorneys for her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, earlier this month.
Morrissey is in the process of pursuing legal action against A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment Services and others involved in the production and release of the docuseries titled Where is Wendy Williams?. The show, released in February 2024, focused on Williams‘ abrupt exit from public life.
The 60-year-old former television host was placed under a legal guardianship overseeing her health and finances around one year prior to being diagnosed with aphasia and dementia in May of 2023.
Earlier this year in February, Williams’ guardian Morrissey sued to stop the aforementioned Where is Wendy Williams? doc from being released. The series, which ultimately came out on Lifetime, highlighted Wendy’s struggles with alcohol, amongst other things.
In a November 12 court filing, Morrissey described Williams as an “acclaimed entertainer who, tragically, has been afflicted by early-onset dementia.”
Meanwhile, in an amended September complaint, Williams’ guardian accused the defendants of taking “advantage of (Williams) in the cruelest, most obscene way possible for their own financial gain.”
According to TMZ, Williams was last seen in public in August of this year.
We’re sending all our well wishes and prayers to Wendy Williams.
