Scout Willis responds to sister’s cryptic message about ex-stepdad Ashton Kutcher

Scout Willis has addressed her sister Tallulah’s recent comments about their former stepfather, Ashton Kutcher, following a social media post that sparked headlines and speculation.

Their mother, Demi Moore, has had several high-profile relationships over the years — including her marriage to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000, with whom she shares three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Moore later entered a long-term relationship with Ashton Kutcher, which lasted from 2005 to 2013.

Recently, Tallulah caught attention with a comment she made on Instagram in response to a video posted by Gwyneth Paltrow. The actress was promoting a podcast episode exploring the complexities of stepparenting and blended families, calling the experience “messy, beautiful, and deeply human.”

Tallulah replied: “I have a lot to say on this! Especially how to move through an ex-step parent.”

When asked by a follower if she was referring to Kutcher, Tallulah confirmed: “This maybe should have been a private message lol but yes I have personal experience with this.” She added that it’s “an important conversation,” and noted, “No one needs to be the bad guy for a situation to be healed. There’s room for everyone.”

In the wake of the attention the comment received, Scout Willis addressed the situation at the premiere of The Cutters.

“I wasn’t aware of that,” Scout told Entertainment Tonight, “but I don’t think that’s the way I hold it, or the way my mom holds it.”

Reflecting on their family dynamic, she continued: “Since my parents divorced when I was young, everything has always been handled with grace and love. I think that’s the way forward — putting the children first and approaching everything with mutual respect.”

Scout also opened up about her father Bruce Willis, who is currently being cared for by the family following his diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

Asked what it means to see him happy, she said simply, “It means everything.”

“I think we all gain so much from the relationships we have with our parents as we get older, especially as we start to see them as people — living and enjoying their lives,” she added.

This isn’t the first time Tallulah has spoken about the impact of Moore’s relationship with Kutcher. In a 2023 episode of Stars on Mars, she reflected on the early days of their relationship:

“It was 2003, my mom had just started dating Ashton. There was a lot happening, and I really went inward — it sent me into a total dumpster fire,” she said. “It was really hard, and I’m still unpacking it.”

However, she also shared that she’s come a long way since: “I really love myself now, and I love my family.”

Demi Moore herself has been candid about the relationship. In her memoir Inside Out, she wrote that she “went into contortions to try to fit the mold of the woman he wanted his wife to be,” even describing herself in an interview as “addicted” to Kutcher at the time.
