Kate Middleton has been in remission from her cancer since January. The Wales family has gone through a very difficult time, but how Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have been doing through it all hasn’t been disclosed – until now. Prince William has shared new details about what he and Kate told their kids when their mother was treated for cancer.
In March 2024, weeks after King Charles announced he had cancer, Kate Middleton announced she was also battling cancer. In a heartfelt video, recorded in Windsor Gardens, the person announces their illness.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” Kate said. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful.”
The Princess of Wales continued, “This of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”
“As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirit,” Kate said. “Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”
Kate Middleton left public life to concentrate on her recovery. Meanwhile, Prince William took on more responsibility, both in his role as a member of the Royal Family and at home as a husband and father.
In January, the Princess of Wales and future queen shared the happy news that she is in remission from her cancer. The Wales family has mostly stayed out of the spotlight since her initial diagnosis. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have been doing in all this that has not been known.
However, now, Prince William has lifted the lid on his children. While appearing on Brazilian television during his trip to Brazil for his environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize, William explained how he and Kate faced “difficult questions” from their children on how their mum was doing.

William said George, Charlotte, and Louis asked many questions about their mother’s health. They decided that the best thing to do was to be honest.
“Every family goes through difficult times and faces challenges together,” William said, per The Sun. “How you deal with those moments makes all the difference. We decided to tell our children everything, both the good news and the bad. We explain to them why certain things happen and why they might feel upset.
“Many questions might come up without answers — I think all parents go through that,” he continued.
