Family of Renee Good release tragic statement after her death in Minnesota ICE shooting

The family of Renee Good, the 37-year-old woman shot dead in Minnepolis while attempting to flee ICE agents last week, has issued a heartbreaking statement.

The shooting of Good by ICE officer Jonathan Ross sparked widespread outrage and criticism of the current administration. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey warned ICE agents at the time: “I do have a message for our community, our city, and I have a message for ice to ICE: get the f–k out of Minneapolis.”

Good’s January 7 death was filmed from multiple angles, with video footage directly contracting the line the Department of Homeland Security issued in the immediate aftermath of the incident that claimed Good was trying to mow down ICE officers with her car.

Numerous videos show the 37-year-old mother, a US citizen, turning away from masked ICE agents as they surround her vehicle. The aforementioned Ross, brushed by Good’s vehicle as she attempted to flee the scene, fired three shots at her head.

Widespread demonstrations have unfolded in Minneapolis since January 7, while the FBI are now tasked with undertaking an inquiry. Many in the Twin Cities community have expressed distrust relating to federal agents in the city, while leaders continue to challenge the narrative from federal officials regarding the shooting of Good.

Good’s family have now released a statement wherein they remembered her as a “beautiful light”.

“She was the beautiful light of our family and brought joy to anyone she met. She was relentlessly hopeful and optimistic which was contagious. We all already miss her more than words could ever express,” the family wrote, per CBS.

They added that she “gave everything she had to take care of her friends and family, and indeed people she never met.”

In a separate message, Good’s wife, Rebecca, chose to highlight her enduring kindness.

“This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her,” she said.

Meanwhile, Good has repeatedly been branded a “domestic terrorist” by government officials, including U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, and of course, President Donald Trump himself.

Last week, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said: “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defence. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody ‌directly – that is bulls**t.”

As stated, Good’s final moments were captured on camera. Popular YouTube expert, Dr G, has since reviewed the circulating footage.

The expert opted to focus on Good’s hands, which appear to show her turning her steering wheel to the left, “preparing to leave.” Her tires were also pointing to the left, supporting the claim that she was fleeing, not driving towards, the ICE officers.
