Jennifer Lawrence admits her friends have a dirty nickname for her

We all have a nickname or two that pops up now and then.

Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lawrence is no different — but what her friends call her might just shock you…

Nicknames over the years

Jennifer Lawrence has been everywhere lately, and it’s not hard to see why. She’s set to return to the big screen in the upcoming Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled to hit theaters in November 2026.

Earlier this week, the actress stopped by Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, where she showed off her signature humor and candor.

During the conversation, Lawrence revealed that she’s picked up more than a few nicknames over the years — some sweet, others a bit more revealing.

“Floffin, Nitro,” she rattled off with a laugh, before admitting that her friends also saddled her with a far cheekier nickname in adulthood.

“Boobs,” she said. “Boobs Lawrence. The full government name.”

Lawrence also revealed that her friends have another go-to label for her — one inspired by pop culture and used whenever she says something particularly silly.

“They call me Ken from the Barbie movie, ’cause I’m ‘just Ken,’” she explained. “I think it’s their way of calling me stupid. And whenever I ask something stupid, they’re like, ‘She’s just Ken.’”

Earlier in the conversation, the 35-year-old actress opened up about how uncomfortable she finds photo shoots, especially after having two children.

“They’re just like, ‘We were thinking you wouldn’t wear a bra for this,’ and I’m like, ‘I’ve had two children,’” she said, joking, “You want me to show you something? Come here, let me show you something.”

Bad postpartum

Jennifer Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, welcomed their first son, Cy, in February 2022, and expanded their family again in 2025 with the birth of their second son, making them a family of four.

Lawrence reflected on how her body changed after giving birth to her second son last year, explaining that she struggled with postpartum issues.

“With my second, I had like bad postpartum, so, like, I wasn’t eating. So, I felt really skinny, but I wasn’t,” she said. “I was like, ‘Strapless? Let’s do this.’ My baby was like 3 weeks old,” she added with a laugh.

She went on to joke that she’s surprised no one commented on how slim she looked while filming Die My Love, despite being pregnant at the time.

“And I’ve been waiting, and nobody said it. Nobody was like, ‘Wow, you were pregnant? You looked so skinny,’” she joked. “Like, I’ve never had an Ozempic rumor.”

While Lawrence didn’t explain the origin of her “Floffin” nickname, she did reveal that “Nitro” came from her childhood, courtesy of her older brothers.

“I was really hyper, and they called me nitro,” she said.

However, Lawrence struggled with her childhood, battling hyperactivity and social anxiety, and often felt like a misfit among her peers. “I didn’t have any friends. I remember being kind of lonely,” she told Rolling Stone.

Talking about growing up with two older brothers, Lawrence credited them with shaping her personality. “They were really protective,” she said. “I think it made me tough.”

She also agreed with Poehler’s observation that many of her male co-stars quickly feel more like family than romantic interests.

“Josh Hutcherson was a brother,” Poehler said, adding that Robert Pattinson — Lawrence’s co-star in Die My Love — gives off the same energy. Lawrence didn’t disagree.
