Barron Trump attended his father’s State of the Union address on Monday. The 19-year-old has been surrounded by rumors about his private life for a long time, and yesterday’s appearance was no different. A ‘myster girl’ appeared behind him, who some believed was his girlfriend. Now, her identity has been revealed.
As of last fall, Barron Trump is back in Washington, DC. He transferred to the DC campus for his sophomore year at Stern Business School.
The youngest son of President Donald Trump has not been seen in public since his father’s inauguration in January last year; however, pictures of him at the private New Year’s party at Mar-a-Lago surfaced online.
On Monday, February 24, Barron was seen again. Together with family members, including his stepsister, Ivanka Trump, and his mother, Melania Trump, he attended Donald’s State of the Union address. But while there were many talking points about his father’s speech, the reactions to Barron sitting in the stands and to a ‘mystery girl’ behind him were on many people’s minds.
Some thought she might be someone special in his life, not least as she sat between Usha Vance and Jared Kushner, which could have been interpreted as if she was there with Barron. But now we know the truth.
Who was the ‘mystery woman’ sitting behind Barron Trump at the State of the Union?
The woman in question was actually a guest invited to the event by the first lady. Sierra Burns, 24, has worked to help children in foster care.
The official X account of First Lady Melania Trump shared a post about Sierra, who is a participant in the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence Program.
“She is a dedicated advocate for children in foster care after having experienced the foster-care system firsthand. A graduate of Winthrop University, she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Advocacy and Social Policy at Furman University while also working as a Referral Specialist at Prisma Health. Sierra testified in support of extending foster care in South Carolina and later became a Jim Casey Fellow, where she helped develop training resources for caseworkers statewide,” the post read.
In a video shared by the White House, Burns talked about how she felt at the big event.
“I’m, like … awestruck. It’s the State of the Union — like, that’s an ultimate honor.,” Sierra Burns said. “To be here is a dream. I don’t think I could have ever imagined this for myself. And yet, here I am, so I’m thrilled, and thank you for having me.”
The president also mentioned Sierra during his speech. He thanked her and another guest by name, saying, “Tonight, we welcome two young people whose lives reflect the first Lady’s impact. Sierra Burns and Everest Nevraumont. Thank you both.”
Sierra Burns praised by Melania Trump
The First Lady also spoke about Burns and another young guest, 11‑year‑old Everest Nevraumont. In a statement released on the White House website.
Melania said, “Sierra and Everest embody my ongoing mission to uplift America’s foster youth and expand opportunity for our next generation through education and technology.”
The White House made clear why Sierra was there. They posted that:
People were curious because Sierra was sitting right behind Barron, between other famous guests. But now we know she was simply one of Melania Trump’s invited guests — not someone romantically involved with him.
Barron’s dating life became a topic of discussion as he began his studies at Stern Business School at NYU. However, whether he has a girlfriend or not is not public knowledge.
