‘Pawn Stars’ Corey Harrison issues health update after asking fans for help

Pawn Stars’ Corey Harrison has issued a health update following news breaking of a fundraiser designed to help him cover his medical bills after a life-threatening accident.

In January, Corey, 42, was left with 11 fractured ribs, a concussion, and facial injuries as a result of a motorcycle crash in Mexico, per TMZ. Grave complications ensued, while Corey was also forced to miss the wedding of his father, Rick Harrison.

Corey told TMZ that he had prematurely checked himself out of hospital after two weeks due to mounting medical costs.

While continuing to recover at his home in Tulum, Mexico, Corey experienced excruciating pain, leading to a house doctor administering IV fluids and morphine.

When Corey’s oxygen level plummeted, he feared he might die. TMZ report that he couldn’t afford to return to the same hospital where he’d been treated, forcing friends to take him to a more affordable facility.

There, Corey underwent three surgeries and spent an additional 18 days hospitalized. All told, the TV star claims to have incurred close to $120,000 in medical costs.

Corey, previously an integral part of the wildly popular Pawn Stars show, started a GoFundMe page in the hope that fans would help him financially.

His father, Rick Harrison, who varying reports suggest is worth multiple millions of dollars, questioned the fundraiser, revealing to TMZ: “As far as I know, I paid all of Corey’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out.”

Rick also suggested there’s no ‘repayment schedule in place’ for his son, adding: “He is a grown man in his 40s and is responsible for how he handles his finances.”

Corey, however, reacted in surprise when he heard what his father had said.

“If he decided I don’t have to pay him back the money, then happy birthday to me,” he said.

“But based on our personal and business relationship, I don’t see how that’s possible. I love my father very much, he’s always been there for me, and I don’t have a problem with him at all.”

With his GoFundMe page continuing to take donations, Corey offered an update on his condition. It reads: “Thank you so much to the people who have donated!

“I don’t know if anyone out there has broken ribs but this is awful!! I will keep everyone updated on my condition.”
