Mariah Carey just reminded the world that she isn’t just the Queen of Christmas, she can make any holiday feel special.
Just after St. Patrick’s Day, the music legend shared a rare family photo on Instagram featuring her 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan – and everyone noticed the same thing..
St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in style this March. In Chicago, the iconic Chicago River was dyed a brilliant emerald green, a festive tradition that has dazzled spectators every year since 1962. Across the country, pubs poured pints of Guinness, streets were filled with parades, and celebrations rang out in cities from Boston to New York.
Of Irish descent
Even Washington, D.C., joined the festivities: Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin met with U.S. President Donald Trump during the annual Saint Patrick’s Day visit, sharing a toast as part of the long-standing diplomatic tradition. Everywhere you looked, Americans embraced the spirit of the holiday — green everywhere, laughter in the air, and a sense of global Irish cheer.
One of the stars joining in the festivities to honor St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was none other than singer Mariah Carey, 57.
Not everyone may know this, but Mariah Carey, born in Huntington, New York on Long Island, has Irish roots. Her mother, Patricia (née Hickey), a former opera singer and vocal coach, is of Irish descent.

It’s clear that the singer embraces her heritage, and she also shared the celebration with her two children, twins Moroccan and Monroe Cannon. (They are from her previous marriage to Nick Cannon.)
For a mom who rarely shares photos of her children, the St. Patrick’s Day post was a treat — and the internet couldn’t resist diving into every detail.
The snapshot, full of festive green and perfectly coordinated outfits, immediately had fans talking — not just about Mariah’s emerald dress, but about the twins and the complicated Cannon family tree.
For the holiday, Mariah went all out in a fitted emerald gown with a thigh-high slit, posing alongside green-themed decorations at home.

Monroe kept it casual in a green tee under a black sweatshirt with baggy jeans, while Moroccan matched the vibe in a green sweatshirt and jeans.
Fans quickly reacted to how grown the twins look — and how much Moroccan favors his dad. “Rocky is looking just like his dad oh my!” one wrote. “That son Nick’s twin baby. 😍 you guys are beautiful!”
Other comments added: “Twins look like ✨ their father …They didn’t take anything from Mariah jaja it’s a shame,” and “Son looks just like Nick!”
Mariah’s outfit also drew attention, with reactions ranging from playful critiques to praise:
“Love this lady but she needs a new look 😂😂 a fitted gown with some leg shown hate to see her coming 😂” and “Love the dress for St. Patrick’s Day look beautiful on you 😅 but red look more better to be very honest [sic].”
”Happy St. Patrick’s Day Mimi 🍀 You’re looking so gorgeous 😍,” a third chimed in.

“They both love music”
Mariah’s story with Nick Cannon has been a pop culture whirlwind. The couple secretly tied the knot in the Bahamas in 2008, and three years later, Monroe and Moroccan were born. At 35 weeks into her pregnancy, Mariah delivered fraternal twins on April 30, 2011, via cesarean section.
Mariah has always called them Roc and Roe, emphasizing the love they bring to her life:
“I always want them with me, wherever I am, but it’s not always possible,” she once shared.

“They come with me a lot, which is great, but I do find it really hard being away from home for too long if they can’t be with me. They are teenagers now. They have their own things going on, but they are still my babies. I’m just mom to them, which is how I like it,” she adds. “But they understand what I do, and I think they are proud of me. I’m proud of them.”
Though Mariah inherited her legendary five-octave range from her mother Patricia, a former opera singer, her twins haven’t shown any inclination toward a music career — at least not yet.
“They both love music, but I don’t know,” she admits. “If there is a song they like they will sing it, but that’s as far as it goes right now.”
Since the split
After Mariah’s and Cannon’s divorce finalized in 2016, they have maintained a co-parenting arrangement.
“I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk,” she said.
Since the split, Nick has expanded his family with ten more children, creating one of the most talked-about family trees in entertainment.

For Monroe and Moroccan, this means growing up with younger half-siblings they rarely see — a dynamic Monroe addressed head-on in November 2025:
“Clearing something up guys,” she said on Instagram Stories. “I only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon. I do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many many years younger than me!”
