The woman prosecutors say played a central role in the events leading up to Matthew Perry’s death has now been sentenced.
Jasveen Sangha, also called the “Ketamine Queen,” was among five people arrested in 2024 following an investigation into the actor’s fatal overdose. Authorities say she supplied the ketamine Perry took on October 24, 2023.
Four days later, the 54-year-old was found unresponsive in the pool at his Los Angeles home by his assistant. A coroner later ruled his death was caused by the “acute effects of ketamine.”
The case prompted a wider investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, which said it uncovered “a broad underground criminal network” that had “taken advantage” of Perry.
“Ketamine Queen” sentenced to prison
Sangha was charged alongside several others, including Perry’s assistant and multiple doctors, in connection with the case. Prosecutors reportedly described her North Hollywood home as a “drug-selling emporium,” according to the BBC, from which she is believed to have distributed drugs since 2019.
She faced nine counts, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and ketamine, and maintaining a drug-involved premises. Prosecutors also alleged her actions contributed to the overdose death of another man, Cody McLaury, that same year.
Shortly before trial, the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of using her home for drug distribution, one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death, and three additional counts of distributing ketamine. She also admitted to selling drugs to McLaury in 2019. According to The Independent, Sangha is the only person whose plea deal acknowledges responsibility for Perry’s death. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
