Donald Trump is currently selling hats emblazoned with “Trump 2028” — a nod to the idea of seeking a third term in the White House.
But not everyone believes he’ll even finish his current one.
Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville is once again predicting that Trump will leave office before the end of his term, insisting the president will resign sometime in 2027.
Speaking on the podcast Politics War Room, Carville and co-host Al Hunt discussed Trump’s political future and whether he might secretly want Democrats to win the midterms so he can once again campaign as a political outsider.
Hunt dismissed the idea outright.
”No way in the world, Danny,” Hunt said.
According to Hunt, Trump is doing everything possible to avoid losing control of Congress because Democratic victories would likely trigger investigations into his administration.
”He is petrified of losing these midterms,” Hunt argued.
”And when they investigate him, and they have the power of subpoena, you know what? He’s done an awful lot of bad things.”

Carville took the prediction even further, claiming Trump has no idea what’s coming politically.
”Trump has no earthly idea of what’s coming. They’re not telling him. The vote against him in November is going to be, like, breathtaking.”
The longtime Democratic strategist believes the backlash will become so overwhelming that Trump will simply choose to walk away from the presidency.
”He’s already bored,” Carville said.
“He can’t stay awake. He says he’s bored with the Iran war. He’s — and I’m telling you, this guy by Easter of 2027 is just going to walk away from this job.”
James Carville, the veteran strategist behind Bill Clinton’s successful 1992 presidential campaign, said Trump has no idea what’s coming and is unprepared for the public backlash he expects to unfold.
”He doesn’t have any idea of what it’s going to be like when he comes to grips with the massive — I mean it’s going to be massive rejection of him.”

It’s not the first time Carville has made the prediction. He has previously suggested that Trump could resign, allowing Vice President JD Vance to assume the presidency and potentially issue him a pardon.
This time, however, Carville repeatedly emphasized a specific timeline.
“He’s obviously not well. He sleeps all the time, slobbers all over himself or whatever,” Carville claimed. ”I’m sticking by my thing, he won’t last past Easter 2027. He — because he has no idea, and they just lie to him, and they try to keep s— from him, and it’s all going to come out, and it is going to be very ugly.”
The White House quickly pushed back on the comments. White House spokesman Davis Ingle dismissed Carville’s remarks in a statement to Fox News.
“James Carville is a stone-cold loser who suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, and it has rotted his peanut-sized brain.”
