Molly Ringwald says one unnamed person made her time on Secret Life of the American Teenager so unbearable she rated it one out of ten.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, 58-year-old actress Molly Ringwald was asked to score her various projects on a scale of one to ten.
When it came to The Secret Life of the American Teenager, the teen drama she appeared in from 2008 to 2013, she gave it a one.
The reason was not the show itself. It was one specific person on set.
The show she called the worst
Ringwald played Anne Juergens, the mother of Shailene Woodley’s character, across the first four seasons of the ABC Family series before returning as a guest star in the fifth and final season.
She was quick to separate her feelings about the cast from her feelings about the experience overall.
“I love the cast. I love Shailene. There were so many people I worked with that were, there was one person that was really difficult,” she told Cohen. “And I’m not going to say who that person is.”
That one unnamed person, she said, brought her entire experience down to a one out of ten.
The core cast of the show alongside Woodley and Ringwald included Daren Kagasoff, India Eisley, Ken Baumann, Megan Park and Francia Raisa, among others.
The role Ringwald still loves
At the other end of the scale, Ringwald had nothing but warmth for Pretty in Pink, the 1986 John Hughes film that remains one of her most iconic roles. She gave it a ten.
“That was pretty great. It was written for me,” she said, adding that she still has a collage from the film hanging in her bedroom. Her one minor complaint, the prom dress, aside, she said she loved everything about it.
