The world is mourning the loss of a beloved actress. Phyllida Law, the Scottish actress and mother of Emma and Sophie Thompson, has died at the age of 94.

Born on July 6, 1932, in Glasgow, Scotland, Law originally didn’t have a plan to work on the stage. Instead, she planned to work as a stage designer, but her love for acting couldn’t keep her from pursuing a career in front of the camera.
She went on to build a career that began in the 1950s and continued for a decade. She appeared in many productions, including Much Ado About Nothing,The Time Machine, and Nanny McPhee.
Phyllida Law also became a familiar face on British television. Some of her notable appearances included roles in Midsomer Murders, Waking the Dead, Foyle’s War and Doc Martin.
However, while she had an incredible career of her own, many fans might recognize Phyllida Law mostly for her special performances when she shared the screen with her daughters, Emma and Sophie Thompson, whom she had with her husband Eric. He sadly passed away in 1982.
