Brazilian influencer Duda Alves dies at 22 after sharing extremely difficult recovery from breast reduction

Brazilian content creator Duda Alves has died at 22.

Duda Alves, full name was Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos, passed away on September 13 at the age of 22.

Local authorities in Brazil’s Federal District have confirmed an investigation into her death is underway, and it is investigated as a suicide. Officials declined to share further details out of respect for her family’s privacy.

Alves had built a following of more than 800,000 people across TikTok and Instagram sharing parts of her everyday life, from beauty and relationships to more personal, honest reflections.

Just days before her death, she spoke candidly on her social media about both the physical and social toll of a breast reduction and lift she had undergone three weeks prior.

She said she had been in so much pain it had caused her to vomit and cry. In addition she had received negative comments from “sleazy men” critiquing her choice to have her breast reduced.

How Alves is remembered by the people who knew her best

In the days since her death, friends and family have shared heartfelt tributes online.

Her cousin, Geovana Alves, wrote:

“I had the privilege of having you in my life for 19 years! They were the best 19 years of my life. I will never forget everything we lived through. Every memory we shared will be kept in the most beautiful place in my heart.”

“I hope you know how much you were loved. How much you are loved. And that, somehow, you can feel all the love that remains here” she added.

Close friend Clarissa Pavie described Duda as having an inner beauty that “was so great that it overflowed.”

“What a privilege it was to share some years of my life by her side, to follow her phases, her evolution, and to be able to accumulate so many beautiful memories that will be eternal, just like you. Thank you for changing my life and for holding my hand when I needed you.”

The funeral was held on September 15 at São João Paulo II Parish in Brasília.

Rest in peace.
