Trump’s $5,000 check for all US citizens comes with one condition

President Donald Trump has repeatedly promised a payout of $5,000 for every adult American citizen if the Republicans win both houses of Congress, and he’s now introduced an interesting stipulation.

The topic of the payment has come under major scrutiny since the idea was first floated, not least because the amount of money it would require is staggering, and the prospect of a sitting president incentivizing voting with cash rewards is seen by some as tantamount to cheating.

Nevertheless, Trump’s legion of diehard supporters have been given renewed hope that this time, this time the president means what he is promising, and that a check to the tune of $5,000 will be theirs to spend so long as the Senate and House of Representatives remain red come Wednesday, November 4.

There are those who continue to doubt Trump’s sincerity (and indeed his ability to deliver on such a lucrative promise), and those individuals are most commonly seen pointing to a previous number of similar pledges the POTUS has failed to deliver on in the past, including a “a dividend of at least $2,000 a person (not including high income people!)” that was supposed to come from the fruits of his tariff scheme.

Nor is this the first time Trump has pledged payments of $5,000 to citizens, having done so back in the beginning of his second term as part of what he dressed up as a DOGE dividend. Either the checks were entirely lost in the mail, or they were never feasible in the first place.

Speaking at a rally in Alaska on Tuesday night, Trump again insisted that his plan is to ‘give all adult citizens in the United States $5,000’.

He did, however, impress that the check comes with conditions, adding: “You gotta spend it in the United States of America. I don’t want it going to China.”

The rally in question aimed to boost the chances of Senator Dan Sullivan, the Republican incumbent facing stiff competition from Democrat Mary Peltola.

Certain reports have speculated that the so-dubbed ‘Trump Dividend’, which the president promised at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas early last month, would cost somewhere in the region of $1.2 trillion to $1.3 trillion if it factored into account sending $5,000 to every citizen.

Needless to say, any plan to apportion such an eye-watering sum of money is beyond reason, not to mention very likely Trump’s power.
