Donald Trump rages at Fox News during midterms – angrily texts host live on air and slams co-host

President Donald Trump took aim at Fox News as early polling figures raised concerns about the Republican Party’s performance in the 2026 midterm elections.

The president’s frustration became particularly visible during a live broadcast of The Five, when he reached out directly to co-host Greg Gutfeld with a message about fellow panelist Jessica Tarlov.

Gutfeld shared the message with viewers, revealing that Trump had contacted him while the show was on the air.

“Greg, tell Tarlov – who is the WORST – gas prices are lower than they were for Biden and Obama and they allowed Iran to have the nuclear bomb. Furthermore, I inherited the worst prices and inflation in history from Sleepy Joe. Prices are heading down FAST! Just like all other prices and so is inflation which is 1.7 percent. And there will be no ‘nuclear bomb.’”

Earlier that evening, he had taken to Truth Social, writing: “Watching the Pre-Election Results on FoxNews, but I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov’s voice — DUMB AS A ROCK, but it’s the voice that gets me. Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air — I’ll be back later!”

Tarlov responded to the president’s criticism on social media.

“I realize my comments highlighting the highest gas prices on any Election Day aggravated the president, but reality is a tricky thing and he should get better at dealing with it.”

Trump took aim at Fox News polling

As election coverage continued on November 3, the president also questioned the credibility of Fox News’ polling.

“The FoxNews Poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask. Every question is a hit job, and every answer is [expletive] This has been going on for years,” he wrote, according to UNILAD.

He also alleged that Fox News had lost 27 percent of its audience because of its coverage of Democrats.

“It’s them, not me — My numbers are better than they have ever been,” Trump claimed.

The president went on: “Also, why is Fox Corp. spending so much money donating to the Worst of the Worst, including Hakeem Jeffries, Jamie Raskin, Ted Lieu, Pete Aguilar, the California Dumocratic Party, the Dumocratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Dumocratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, the CHC Bold PAC, and the New Dumocrat Coalition Action Fund, among others?”

He then repeated his criticism of the network’s audience figures.

“No wonder FoxNews Ratings are collapsing… They’re way down, not because of me, but because they are AGAINST me!”

“I have the ultimate power”

Fox News host Jesse Watters acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the results during the network’s election coverage.

“I don’t feel great. I feel like I’m about to play a game that I know I’m gonna lose,” Watters said.

He also warned about the possibility of losing control of the Senate.

“Getting hurt would mean you lose the Senate. And right now the Senate is very much in play! And it’s making me angry! But I knew this was coming.”

Trump addressed how he would respond if lawmakers moved to challenge his administration. In a phone interview with CBS News, the president said: “I have the ultimate power.”

“It’s called ‘veto’.”
