Anita Maria Ramirez Cetina, 24, was one of nine people killed when a Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida. Now her sister has shared the happy video call they had just before she boarded the plane.
Anita Maria Ramirez Cetina was just weeks away from turning 25 when she boarded a private jet on Sunday, November 1. The young nanny was one of nine people killed when the Learjet 60 crashed into a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, later that day. Now her sister has shared the last conversation they ever had.
Before the plane left, Anita video called her sister, Angie. She was excited about traveling with the Robinson family to the Bahamas to celebrate the family’s dad’s, Adam Robinson’s, birthday, and she had never been there before.
“We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” Angie told The US Sun. “She was very happy. She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work.”
Anita, who was known to her family as Ana, was a biomedical engineer who moved to the US from Colombia two years ago. According to her sister, she adored the family she worked for and their two little ones, Emma, four, and Charlie, two.
“She loved the job she had, she said. Then she added: “She loved the children very much. She loved the Robinson family dearly.”
How her family found out
The jet was headed to the Bahamas when the crew reported ice and turbulence. Shortly after, the plane plunged from around 35,000 feet and crashed. Everyone on board died.
Along with Anita, the victims were tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 44, his wife Helen Sharp, their two children, family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, captain Jeff Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20. Angie saw a video of the crash on social media before she knew her sister was involved. She checked the flight path, but she didn’t want to believe it.
“I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane,” she said. “But later, my mom called me on Monday morning and confirmed to me that yes, it was the flight Ana Maria was on.”
Sisters who were inseparable
The last time Angie saw Anita in person was in July, when she gave birth to her son. Anita had been by her side the whole way.
“Something that will stay with me forever was that she was there through my whole journey with my son, from the beginning until the day I had him, through my postpartum recovery, she was right there,” Angie said.
“She adored my son. He was practically the apple of her eye. She and I were inseparable.”
