Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson both test positive for coronavirus in Australia

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have both tested positive for COVID-19, the actor confirmed yesterday.

63-year-old Hanks said that he and Rita had been struck down with fever while in Australia, where he is currently based to film a new movie about the life of Elvis Presley.

Hanks took to Instagram to reveal that he and Rita had tested positive for coronavirus, writing:

Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!
Hanx!

Hanks becomes the first Hollywood star to come out as having the disease, but he and Rita are just two more cases of a virus that’s spreading quickly.

Believed to have originated in Wuhan, China, coronavirus has traveled around the world in a short amount of time. The U.S. yesterday cancelled all inbound travel from Europe, with CNBC claiming as many as 150 million Americans could contract the virus.

Here’s to hoping Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson make a swift recovery. We’re sending our prayers to them and all the other sufferers around the world.
