Thank goodness for hospice workers! They’re the unsung heroes who provide support and care to terminal ill patients and provide comfort for the dying person’s loved ones, too. One such hero who deserves praise for going above and beyond the call of duty is a hospice worker in Austinburg, Ohio named Joshua Woodard.
Joshua walked into the room of a patient named Mary on one of her last days on earth and burst into the famous Christian hymn “How Great Thou Art.” And luckily, someone was there to capture his passionate serenade on camera.
In a post on Facebook, Marti Adkins Redmond revealed that Joshua has known Mary since he was nine years old.
“Hospice workers are angels but this hospice aide is special,” Marti Adkins Redmond wrote. “Mary taught voice and piano in her day and this aide Joshua Woodard was one of her students as a kid. Special people hospice workers are!”
Unfortunately, Mary has since passed, making this moment even more precious.
