Family of 11-year-old killed by car asks for help burying him

The family of an 11-year-old boy who was hit and killed by a driver on Tuesday morning in Van Buren Township, Wayne County, Michigan, have said they need help to bury him.

As per tragic reports, young Blake Smith was out with his mother and 6-year-old sister when their car stalled not far from their home.

After getting out of their vehicle, Blake’s mom and sister were then struck by another passing car, with the former being knocked unconscious.

Panicking, Blake ran across the road to get help for his family. He was then hit himself by a truck and killed instantly.

“Blake went to run across the street for help and a truck struck him,” the boy’s uncle, William Stone, said.

“We just went and bought all the new school clothes for him,” Stone added. “Nothing like this has ever happened to the family so we are just trying to get it together.”

To make matters even worse, Blake’s family say they are now struggling to come up with the money to bury him.

“None of us have any money and this is the first time anything like this has happened to the family,” Stone said.

“So, we were not prepared. We just need help.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Blake’s family bury their little boy. It can be found here – at the time of writing, it has managed to raise almost $12,000.

According to Fox2, Blake’s mom and sister were both injured when they were hit by the car. His mom is said to have injuries to her face, and his sister has broken ribs and bruising. They will both make a full recovery.

“We are family we will just be there for each other,” Stone said.

Rest in peace, Blake. Our hearts go out to his family at this most difficult of times.
