After years of abuse: Pure happiness when these elephants swim freely for the first time

Elephants Kannika and Madee were freed from a life in chains and have begun a new life in the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, southern Thailand.

It’s a sanctuary for elephants who have suffered in captivity, and where they can now live just like in the wild. They can, for example, swim in a large lake.

Need I say that these two were just thrilled to have a swim? Have a look at the video below to witness them having their first swim. It was so beautiful it made my heart sing!

Elephants should never live in captivity! Please, do not attend circuses that use wild animals, and remember not to ride on elephants if you’re on vacation in a country that offers that.

At Newsner, we love animals and believe in treating them with utmost respect. Please like our page if you do, too.
