It’s often said that dogs and cats don’t really get along. But Reddit user Garret_N posted a couple of heartwarming pictures that are unlike anything I have seen before.
And it all starts with a dog that really, really loves a cat.
The Reddit user describes how, every day for six months, a dog laid its paws against the window and stared at the cat in the window across the street. He really loved that cat.
But one day, as he embarked on his usual routine, the dog noticed something quite traumatic… the cat’s owners had done some redecorating and the cat’s usual spot was now blocked by flower pots.
Nobody, except the dog’s owner, had been aware of his daily habit of staring at the cat across the street.
Upon realizing he could no longer see the object of his love, the dog was devastated – quite heartbroken in fact.
His owner, saddened at seeing her dog so sad and lonely, decided to write up a note and tape it to her neighbor’s window.
Here’s what the note said:
Dear Neighbor,
This is going to seem ridiculous, but I thought you should know that my dog) who lives next door at ——- with me) is madly in love with your cat…. and has been for probably 6 months! Three x a day, he puts his paws on our railing to look @ him/her in your window sill. Now that you have potted plants there, he is heartbroken… but keeps looking for your cat every time. Maybe your plants could switch to a different window??! From your neighbor + her adoring dog!
The message worked! The neighbor removed the flowers and put up this note, stating “FOR TRUE LOVE”.
All’s well that ends well! Now dog and cat can once again sit for hours and admire each other. Please share this adorable love story with all your friends as a testament to how wonderful animals are!
