Prince Harry and President Donald Trump doesn’t have the best of relationships. While the Duke has mocked Trump, the president thretened to deport harry a few years back after it was rumored he lied on his Visa application. Now, as Harry is said to leave the U.S with his family, it might be a possibility he won’t ever be able to return.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly leaving the U.S. Last week, reports about them having taken the decision to move back to the U.K emerged, with the couple being said to have already enrolled their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in new schools.
The reason for their move is not yet known, however, sources have pointed out that King Charles could be a reason. Others have said it has to do with what many believe has been their failed business venturs, as they get a new start in the U.K.
However, some take it one step further. MAGA allies has stated that the real reason for the move is Donald Trump.
Katie Miller, the husband of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller. In a post on X, quoting part of a People Magazine article, Miller wrote, “They are moving back to Britain because they don’t like President Trump.”

In other posts, Miller claimed that Meghan had provided People with information because she “always just wanted to be a celebrity” and claimed that the couple was “broke.”
Conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly also commented, saying: “We’ve done our time here in America my dear friend!”
The Sussexes’ sour relationship with Trump is nothing new. The Duke previously took aim at the president after Trump claimed NATO allies had “stayed a little back” during the war in Afghanistan.
In April, Harry said the U.S should show more leadership on Ukraine amid the Russian invasion.
According to the BBC, Trump addressed Harry’s statement and commented, “Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards. I know one thing: Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK; that’s for sure. I think I am speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry.”
Did Prince Harry lie on his U.S Visa application?
Donald Trump has yet not commented on the reports of Harry and Meghan possibly leaving the U.S. However, one can imagine he isn’t mourning their possible departure.
Still, Harry has been on the president’s mind for many years, with one ‘incident’ getting more coverage than the rest.
In 2023, the American conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for access to Harry’s immigration records. When applying for certain American visas, one must disclose whether they ever have taken drugs, which could result in their application being denied.
But Harry did disclose the truth in his Spare memoir, revealing that he had previously used various drugs and psychedelics, including cocaine, marijuana, and magic mushrooms.
Harry also admitted that he had lied as a teenager about using cocaine. He excused his drug use by attaching it to the burden he felt relating the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
“Of course…I had been doing cocaine around this time…I’d been offered a line, and I’d done a few more since. I was a deeply unhappy 17-year-old boy willing to try almost anything that would alter the status quo. That was what I told myself anyway,” Harry wrote in Spare.
Donald Trump threatened to deport Harry over reported Visa mishap
He went on to explain how he used psychedelic drugs, and that they allowed him to “escape reality for a while.”
“All the great seers and philosophers say our daily life is an illusion. I always felt the truth in that. But how reassuring it was, after nibbling a mushroom, or ingesting ayahuasca, to experience it for myself,” he continued.
The Heritage Foundation went on to explain why they had sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for access to Harry’s immigration records.
“Harry has publicly admitted to extensive illegal drug use. What do we submit this means? That Harry seems to have received special treatment: the [Department of Homeland Security] looked the other way if the prince answered truthfully, or it looked the other way if the prince lied on his visa application. Either action would be wrong,” it read.
Prince Harry’s Visa application was assessed by the federal courts. However, in September of last year, a judge ruled that it should remain private.
Before the 2024 Presidential Election, Trump threatened to deport Harry if he had lied on his Visa application. Moreover, he clarified that he “wouldn’t protect” Harry if he won the 2024 presidential election, not least because he viewed Harry’s royal exit as a betrayal of the late Queen Elizabeth.
“I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me,” Trump told the Express at the time, adding that he believes the Royal Family was “too gracious” to Harry after “what he has done.”
Prince Harry could be banned from ever returning to the U.S
However, he later rouled out deporting the prince, joking, “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife.”
Prince Harry has not become a U.S Citizen and time will tell if he ever will apply. Now, a new update on Harry’s Visa troubles has come to light.
The Heritage’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuits failed to uncover any information from either agency about the prince’s immigration status — even before the Duke and Duchess announced they would be returning to the UK, six years after stepping back from royal dutie.s
Still, now, former Heritage staffer Mike Howell, now president of the government accountability group Oversight Project and a party to the lawsuits told the NY Post that Harry won’t be able to ‘slip away’ even though he would leave the U.S. Worst case? the Duke won’t be able to return to the States.
“We still want all the documents,” Howell told the NY Post. “Prince Harry may be leaving, but our fight for the truth goes on,” Howell added. “Maybe he won’t be able to come back.”
