Christie Brinkley hits back at ‘the wrinkle brigade’ who troll celebrity social media accounts

Aging is one part of life that is inevitable for everyone, yet there are many who find it difficult to grasp that cellulite and wrinkles are a natural part of life. And sometimes those people make their voices heard.

Christie Brinkley is the latest celebrity to face criticism for showing her au naturel look. But the actress and model isn’t letting them dampen her spirits, instead she has a message for the people she calls “the wrinkle brigade.”

“Whoa Nelly ! The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread!”

Brinkley, 69, shared a selfie on Instagram that caused quite the reaction. No, it wasn’t her pout or smoky eye that drew the most comments, it was the wrinkles on her chest and face that drove the conversation.

So much so that the model had to edit her post and address those who made negative comments.

“The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread! They are the people that scan celebrities pages, hoping to find some cellulite , wrinkles , or anything that they can point to to to critique. It must be somd [sic] form of compensation for some thing they are lacking.”

“But when those people appear, there are others who pop up with messages so kind and valuable. Those are the comments that restore my faith and make my heart sing! Thank you sweet souls,” she continued.

In 2020, Brinkley took to Instagram and shared a throwback photo to the swimsuit that “caused a stir” along with a body-positive message.

She recalled how she worried she looked fat in the bathing suit.

“I’m so glad that today our industry appreciates all shapes and sizes so we can just focus on being healthy. Not cookie cutter,” she wrote. “Still there is something in some young girls that often makes them feel they just don’t measure up . I was one of them. I look back at these and think that worry was such a waste of time. If only the perspective we gain with age that alleviates the worries, could be passed on and absorbed by the younger generation …but I do think shifting the focus to feeling great is a giant step in the right direction.”

I hope that one day trolls won’t bother others about how they choose to age. Aging is something natural, and it’s something that will inevitably happen to each and every one of us.
