Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson causes a crowd to cry after handing over his award to a teen cancer survivor

It seems Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is making more of a name for himself off the Hollywood screen than on, if that’s even possible.

The 6ft 5 inch power-house, who also happens to be one of the nicest men in Hollywood just can’t help showing the nation how big his heart it, and reducing us all to tears.

Only last week the Fast and Furious star gave away his beloved Ford F-150 pickup truck to shocked U.S. Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez telling him he deserved so much more for his efforts to help his community and for looking after his mom.

As well as being a Hollywood megastar, devoted dad and all round nice guy, he also takes care of his mom.

The Jungle Cruise star was the deserving recipient of the People’s Champion Award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.

He was honored for his contributions to the entertainment industry and entrepreneurial endeavors as well as his commitment to supporting children and families in need.

He was presented with the award by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who said it was impossible not to like his friend The Rock and his work ethic was “unparalleled.”

He added, “His achievements are legend. He transcends all demographics.”

On receiving the award Johnson referenced his last meeting with legendary boxer and original people’s champion Muhammed Ali.

“I first met Muhammad when I was a little boy and he was so cool to me. He was so kind and he was so funny. He was always wonderful to me.”

The 49-year-old father of three explained that he referred to himself as the “people’s champion” during his career as a professional wrestler playing the bad guy role of ‘Rocky Maivia.’

However, he made sure to ask Ali’s wife for permission to call himself that.

Johnson told the crowd, “She said, ‘He told me to tell you you are the people’s champion, you have earned it, you take that title.’

“Years later to be standing here with you guys, you voted me the People’s Champion, this irony is not lost on me because I realize that what it means to be the People’s Champion is so much bigger than me. You treat people good, you treat people kind. You take care of people. You’re inclusive of people, all people, all colors, it doesn’t matter.”

He then turned his attention to one unsuspecting member of the audience and Make a Wish recipient and asked her to join him on stage.

Cancer survivor Shuchana was visibly shocked as she joined Johnson on stage and he told her she was an inspiration.

He explained that he met the teenage girl earlier and he “told her how inspired I was by her story” as she “is a survivor.”

“She has fought literally for her life,” he said. “She has inspired her family, her friends, now you guys here, now the world that is watching.”

The teen thanked Johnson and Make-a-Wish as she said: “I didn’t expect it at all. This is crazy.”

Johnson then handed his award over to the girl as he told her: “You represent everything that it means to be a people’s champion.”

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after the crowd sat down from their standing ovation and listened to Johnson explain why he thought Shuchana was more deserving of his award than he was.

He then told the crowd a quote he learned when he was 15 years old and has never forgotten.

“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”

And people wonder why there are calls for this man to be the next president; he really does epitomize the true essence of leadership and humanity and is so humble with it.
