First photos of Madonna released after ICU scare – star revived with NARCAN injection

Madonna is back to strike a pose.

The 64-year-old singer has been the focus of headlines recently following a disturbing turn of events that saw her battling a bacterial infection in ICU.

She had been set to embark on her highly anticipated Celebration Tour in Vancouver on July 15 – which would have seen her perform her best hits from 1983 to now in 53 shows across North America and Europe – but was forced to postpone it after she was rushed to hospital with a bacterial infection.

The Vogue singer’s tour manager Gary Oseary took to Instagram last Wednesday (June 28) to announce the decision to pause the tour, writing: “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in ICU.”

He continued: “Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and rescheduled shows.”

Initial reports revealed Madonna had been found unresponsive on Saturday, June 24, and was subsequently to a New York City hospital where she was intubated.

After news broke of the traumatic situation, it was later revealed that her stint in hospital was more severe than initially thought, as medics who treated the unresponsive star at her apartment were forced to administer a NARCAN injection.

The injection is typically used in instances of a known or suspected opioid overdose, where symptoms can include unusual sleepiness or difficulty waking up, breaking problems, and a slow heartbeat. Administering a NARCAN injection does not always mean a patient has suffered an opioid overdose, however, and it is often used to reverse the effects of septic shock, per Medline Plus.

Now, exclusive photos from Radar Online have emerged, showing the Hung Up singer looking fresh while out and about in New York over the weekend – almost as if nothing ever happened.

Sporting a baggy black tee and shorts, she coupled her casual look with sneakers and a sun-safe bucket hat. In the images, she’s seen leaning on a streetlight while chatting to a friend on the sidewalk.

“Today, she emerged, and no one even realized it was her,” a source told Radar Online. “People walked past her and had no clue [it was Madonna].”

Here’s to hoping that Madonna is on her way to a full recovery!
