Jamie Foxx breaks his silence, shares new details about last year’s mysterious health crisis

More than one year after Jamie Foxx was hospitalized for an extended period of time, the Academy-Award winning actor is sharing some details about his mysterious illness.

The 56-year-old actor was captured on camera chatting with a group of fans in Phoenix, Arizona over the weekend. He shared his initial symptoms with them along with the first line of treatment he received, but refused to elaborate.

At the time of his hospitalization, it wasn’t publicly known what happened to Foxx, but according to the actor, on April 11, 2023 he experienced a “bad headache.” Foxx asked a friend for some Advil, and then “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

Foxx explained how he later learned it was his sister and daughter who brought him to the doctor where he received a cortisone shot.

“The next doctor said there’s something going on up there,” he said to the crowd before adding, “I won’t say it on camera.”

The Ray actor is known for keeping most aspects of his life private, but still, it was very concerning when his daughter Corinne Foxx shared that her father had suffered a “medical complication” and he subsequently disappeared from the limelight.

Rumors began to swirl about Foxx’s health, and it wasn’t until July 2023 when the actor made his first statement that questions began to quiet down.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through,” Foxx said in a video shared on his Instagram.

In December Foxx attended the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards marking his first public appearance since his medical crisis, telling the audience, “It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It’s different.”

He has yet to fully return to the public eye, but his next film, Back in Action starring Cameron Diaz is set to be released on Netflix later this year.

I respect Jamie Foxx for not wanting to share his entire medical history with the public. Whatever happened to him, I hope he’s fully recovered and okay.
