Jamie Lee Curtis celebrates major personal milestone: ’25 years clean and sober’

Jamie Lee Curtis is celebrating a major milestone.

On Saturday, the Oscar winning actress marked 25 years of sobriety, sharing an image of herself holding a chip engraved with the words “JLC Twenty Five.”

“25 years clean and sober. One day at a time. 9,125 of them,” the 65-year-old actress wrote on Instagram. “What’s inside, as my old friend Adam sang, is a sense of calm, serenity, purpose and the greatest feeling that I am not alone. That many others share the same disease and solution.”

While taking the time to celebrate her own personal milestone, Lee also acknowledged those “struggling with addiction and shame,” letting them know they aren’t alone in their fight.

“My hand in yours. Our hands in yours.”

The Halloween actress has been open about her addiction, sharing in 2018 how she began using opiates after undergoing eye surgery.

“I was ahead of the curve of the opiate epidemic,” Curtis told People. “I had a 10-year run, stealing, conniving. No one knew. No one.”

Last year during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe she shared more about her addiction and sobriety journey.

“I was an opiate addict, and I liked a good opiate buzz. And if fentanyl was available, as easily available as it is today on the street, I’d be dead.”

“I’m lucky. I didn’t make terrible decisions high or under the influence that then, for the rest of my life, I regret,” Curtis said.

“Getting sober remains my single greatest accomplishment … bigger than my husband, bigger than both of my children and bigger than any work, success, failure. Anything,” Curtis told People in 2018.

We’ll always be cheering for you, Jamie!
