Jane Fonda recalls Rob Reiner’s final hours before his and wife Michele’s death

Tributes for Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, have poured in after the gruesome murders of the couple on Sunday in their LA home. One of many to send their love is Jane Fonda, who met Rob and Michele the night before they were killed.

Rob Reiner and his wife Michele’s son Nick has been convicted of two counts of first-degree murder for killing his parents on Sunday. The legendary Hollywood director and his wife attended a Christmas party the night before, where Rob and Michele reportedly had a “loud” argument with Nick, who has had a long struggle with drug addiction.

“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,’’ a source told People magazine.

Another friend of the family told the NY Post, “I know [the parents] wanted him to get help, go to rehab, but he wanted to get help while at home — he did not want to get treatment at a facility.”

NBC News reported that Nick tried to speak with actor and comedian Bill Harder at the party. The Saturday Night Live star was interrupted by Nick, who explained that he was engaged in a private conversation. After that, Nick reportedly “stormed off.”

Jane Fonda details Rob Reiner and Michele’s final night before murder

Police detained him on Sunday, and he is now charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Many celebrities have paid tribute to the late director of When Harry Met Sally and Stand By Me, among them legendary actress Jane Fonda.

On Instagram, she revealed she had met Rob and Michele the day before they were murdered. Whether it was at the Christmas party is unclear.

“Rob and Michele Reiner were wonderful, caring, smart, funny, generous people, always coming up with ideas for how to make the world better, kinder. They had been helping me launch the Committee for the First Amendment. I saw them night before last looking healthy and happy. I am reeling with grief. Stunned,” Jane Fonda wrote.

Several celebrities and friends of Rob Reiner took to social media to pay tribute to the director and actor. Another one who spoke to him just hours before he was murdered was the Monty Python icon Eric Idle. On X, Idle revealed he talked with him on Saturday, the night before Rob and his wife were found dead.

Calling Rob a “lovely man,” Eric Idle wrote, “I spoke to him last night for over an hour. I always enjoyed his company. I met him at his Dad’s in 1975. He was telling me about fiming at Stonehenge and his thoughts for the future. This is so awful. I shall miss him. A clever, talented and very thoughtful man. So awful.“

Rest in peace, Rob and Michele.
