Fans hoping to see Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck make a comeback following months of conjecture suggesting they’re on the verge of a breakup have been dealt a blow.
According to reports, the Hollywood A-listers are more estranged than ever as they mark their second wedding anniversary, with reports insisting it looks all but assured that they’re sliding towards divorce.
In fact, Hello Magazine say Affleck and Lopez didn’t spend the occasion together, but rather found themselves on opposite sides of the US.
Rumors have been abound for a while now that all is not well in camp ‘Bennifer’. Not only did Batman star Affleck move out of the couple’s Beverly Hills mansion, but Lopez canceled her planned tour of North America, citing a need to spend more time with family.
Last month the couple’s marital home went up for sale – perhaps the biggest indication yet that their marriage is on the rocks – though neither party has officially made an announcement on the matter.
In any case, reports claim that their second wedding anniversary, which fell on July 16, went uncelebrated, with the pair separated by thousands of miles.
Ben has reportedly been spotted in Los Angeles this week, while J-Lo has been in the Hamptons in New York since July 4.
Needless to say, the mutual decision not to spend time in one another’s company on such a big day runs counter to the idea that the pair are looking to reconcile.
On the contrary, all signs point towards the possibility of a separation, and this just two years after the two actors wed in a secret Las Vegas ceremony.
The pair, readers will remember, have a long romantic history stretching back almost 20 years. Affleck and J-Lo were engaged at the beginning of the 2000s, only to ultimately call off the engagement and go their separate ways.
Many years later the pair reunited, and fans hoped they were witnessing a fairytale ending to one of Hollywood’s most prominent love stories.
Alas, it seems as though it’s not to be.
