Kylie Jenner shares powerful meaning behind son’s new name Aire

Remember when Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their daughter Apple? While sweet, so many people also found it to be unusual. And such began the trend of unique celebrity baby names.

During the season three finale of The Kardashians, Kylie Jenner opened up about her son’s name, Aire.

Born February 2, 2022, Aire was originally named Wolf, but Jenner said “raging” hormones prevented her from giving her son a name that best suited him.

“It was the hormones that took me out,” she told her friend Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou. “It was like, ‘I’m too emotional. He’s so special to me. There’s not a name good enough for him.'”

Two months after he was born, Jenner revealed on her Instagram Story that she and the baby’s father Travis Scott changed the two-month-old’s name.

“FYI our son’s name isn’t Wolf anymore. We just really didn’t feel like it was him,” Jenner wrote.

She did not share his new name at the time.

It wouldn’t be until January 2023 when Jenner unveiled her son’s new moniker, Aire. The toddler’s name was legally changed in June 2023.

“I just always wanted a name for him that had meaning,” Jenner told Karanikolaou. “And I like (that) it’s a Hebrew name.”

“It means lion of God.”

In a confessional Jenner reflected on choosing Wolf as her son’s name, “I didn’t realize the postpartum (hormones) would hit me that hard. I never called him Wolf ever. And then the second night, I was like, ‘Ooh,'” she said with a gasp. “That night, I cried in the shower, and I was like, ‘That’s not his name. What did I just do? Wolf?!’ Someone just told me this 24 hours ago, I just named my son Wolf. It wasn’t even on the list.”

Aire is such a unique and powerful name. I think parents should be encouraged to try out a few names for their children until they find one they feel is right before committing to one. What do you say?
