Margot Robbie once played a twisted prank on her babysitter – ‘She ran screaming from the house’

Margot Robbie may be best known for her acting prowess… But she recently revealed she’s also a bit of a cheeky prankster!

The 33-year-old appeared on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with her ‘Barbie‘ co-star Ryan Gosling, where she recounted a mischievous act she pulled as a child to scare a babysitter she wasn’t fond of.

Recalling the incident, Robbie shared: “We got a new babysitter and I wanted my old babysitter back, Talia, who was like 16 and I thought she was so cool.”

Unhappy with the new, older babysitter, Robbie decided to play a trick on her. “So I got a big kitchen knife and the ketchup and I sprawled out naked on the tiles, covered myself in ketchup, put the kitchen knife, and I waited like 45 minutes for her to find me,” she confessed, unable to hold back her laughter.

The radio show host asked whether the babysitter had fled in terror, to which Robbie playfully replied: “But it was worth the wait… Oh yeah,” as Gosling added that she had “produced [her] own death.”

Robbie didn’t stop at this one prank, though… In fact, she revealed that she often faked injuries as a child. “I also once practiced like a pratfall on the cinema stairs at the shopping center where I’m from, and people called an ambulance,” she said, jokingly referring to herself as a “dramatic child.”

Robbie grew up in Queensland, Australia, and has previously mentioned that she didn’t often play with Barbie dolls. “I didn’t personally have any that I can recall,” she said. “My sister did and I remember my cousin did. I would play with my cousin’s, but I wasn’t actually that much of a Barbie girl as a kid.”

Instead of playing with Barbie dolls, Robbie preferred a more adventurous style of play. “I was more of a roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal,” she humorously explained, noting that the dolls she did play with were “all weird.” She attributed their oddness to being neglected and not well cared for. “They were all weird Barbies,” she said, via Marie Claire.

Margot Robbie’s starring role in the upcoming movie ‘Barbie‘ has turned into a passion project – especially as it has grabbed the attention of the internet and younger generations.

Directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie features an impressive cast – including Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, and many others.

Barbie‘ hits theaters this Friday (July 21), and fans are eager to see Robbie bring her unique charm to the iconic character on the silver screen.
