Orlando Bloom’s awkward reaction to Katy Perry’s VMA performance goes viral – and everyone’s saying the same thing

The VMAs took place last night, which is probably while a good deal of real estate on your social media feeds has been given over to music video-based content today.

Among the numerous celebrities gathered at the event was Orlando Bloom, on hand to support fiancée Katy Perry, and if reports are to be believed an awkward moment unfolded during the latter’s performance.

It was a night to remember for Perry, who joined the likes of Nicki Minaj, Shakira, Missy Elliott and Jennifer Lopez in winning one of the VMAs’ highest accolades; its MTV Video Vanguard Award (lifetime achievement).

The 39-year-old songstress was handed the gong by Bloom, who gave a touching and heartfelt speech beforehand.

“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he told the audience.

“You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates.

“I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family.”

Bloom concluded his speech with: “Congratulations on this honor, baby.”

Prior to accepting her accolade, Perry took to the stage to perform a medley of her greatest hits, including Teenage Dream, I Kissed a Girl, and E.T.

All classics, we’re sure readers will agree. And yet while the vast majority of people can likely lay claim to knowing at least some of the lyrics composing Perry’s most famous tunes, her fiancé, apparently, can’t.

While Perry was singing her heart out, cameras panned to Bloom in the crowd… and fans are of the opinion that the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star was struggling to recite the words.

“Every cut to Orlando Bloom makes it seem like this is the first time he’s heard a Katy Perry song,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“Orlando Bloom has never heard a single Katy Perry song,” chimed another.

“Orlando Bloom has never heard a Katy Perry song in his life, but good for him for supporting her,” a third person wrote.

What do you think? Does Bloom look as lost as people are making out? Let us know in the comments.
